New animal cop walks the beat, thanks
to Bark In The Park
fund-raiser
| September 2007 |
Valley Forge, PA --- (Sept. 14, 2007) A day of fun and exercise
for man and his best fourlegged friends has helped put a new
Humane Police Officer on the beat in Montgomery County.
Thanks
to proceeds from the 2006 Bark In The Park dog walk, which provided
scholarship funds for state-required course fees, Chris Baringer
of Coopersburg, PA was sworn in on August 21st, 2007 at the
Court of Common Pleas of Montgomery County by the Honorable
Thomas P. Rodgers. Baringer was accompanied at the swearing-in
ceremony by her rescue dog, Katie, a 2- 1/2 year old unclaimed
stray brought north as part of the hurricane Katrina animal
rescue efforts.
To help support the heroic efforts of Humane Police Officers
(HPO), the Animal Welfare Project (AWP) of Valley Forge dog-eared
the proceeds from last year’s first annual fall dog walk for
HPO scholarships. The funds were made available to humane organizations
throughout southeastern Pennsylvania.
Baringer’s sponsor, Last Chance Ranch, responded to the offer,
making her one of several HPO recipients to benefit from AWP’s
fund-raising efforts. Baringer also intends to file paperwork
to be sworn in as an HPO in Philadelphia, Chester, Delaware,
Bucks, Northampton and Lehigh counties.
